Testimonials

Our mission is to make Torbay the best place to live, work and play through our services. Find out what our customers say about us.

Christopher Wyatt, resident of the Bay

Firstly, thank you for coming to see me last week, it really was appreciated. Also, thank you for everything you are doing to rectify any issues (in the area). One often hears folks moaning about services but my experience with SWISCo has been nothing but positive. Thank you.

Val Burch, The Willows

Dave and I would like to say a big thank you for your partnership with SWISCO which is improving the look and safety of our public areas (especially along Centenary Way) and for the now regular clearance of our twitten (Barn Owl Close to Shearwater Drive) used by many walkers and dog walkers and such a useful shortcut.

The floral display at the junction of Brown Bridge Road and Riviera Way is delightful and enhances the area.  Perhaps similar planting on the grassy area of the Recreation park along Centenary Way under the trees, would be a lovely upgrade as well?  Local residents are able to take more of a pride in the area with this kind of aesthetic.

I have to say  that Jack, the officer who responded to me has been a breath of fresh air.

Over recent years I have found the Council; difficult to reason with and quite defensive. Jack however has been the most sensible reasoned and understanding officer I have spoken to in years. He should be recognised as if that was the general experience, think we would all be a lot happier.

Karen Kennedy, Independent Councillor for Churston with Galmpton

I asked Greg Lowe to help me yesterday which he did willingly and saved me, you and Harbours a great deal of time and trouble.  His help was really appreciated by my and he is always willing to help out locally when he can.  Please give him some extra gold stars!

C Fritz, the Bay

I have to say that all of the Swisco staff I encounter - and that's quite a few because I walk a Guide Dog puppy all sorts of places and times - are very helpful people.

Civic Mayor of Torbay

On a very wet, blustery morning Lily, my consort, Pepsi, my guide dog and I visited the SWISCO offices at the Yalberton Industrial Estate in Paignton. As Civic Mayor of Torbay I wanted to meet the staff and thank them for all the hard work and commitment they show in order to keep our Bay looking beautiful for its residents.

Having received a very warm welcome, I was overwhelmed by the sheer scope of works that SWISCO undertakes, such as maintaining our parks and gardens, looking after our highways, cleaning our beaches,  processing our recycling and emptying our bins. Both Lily and I were astonished to learn that the SWISCO refuse teams empty 20,000 bins between them each day, five days a week, fifty two weeks of the year.  This really came home to me on a morning like yesterday when Pepsi and I were soaked just getting out of the car and walking to the entrance, whereas these teams are out every day whatever the weather ensuring our rubbish is collected.

Lily and I also learnt much about the effect the weather has on some of SWISCO’s other services, the painting of road markings to mention but one. I had not realised that this could not be done very easily in very cold weather and also in very wet weather which often resulted in scheduled works having to be cancelled at short notice.  From now on I will certainly be more understanding of the unseen challenges that, we as residents may not be aware of..

During the visit I became conscious of how proud all the SWISCO operatives were of their Bay and the part they play in keeping it clean and tidy, primarily for the residents. Although Torbay is a holiday destination and we need to keep it looking good to ensure we maintain our tourist industry SWISCO’s prime role is to provide a service for you, the people who live here permanently.

As Civic Mayor of Torbay I would like to thank SWISCO for the services they are providing across the Bay. I would also like to thank the residents of Torbay for helping SWISCO by recycling as much as they can,  If anything can be recycled please put it in the appropriate recycling box and, of course, put your food waste out in the caddy. Finally, here is a small request from me, as a guide dog owner. If you are able to return your bin to its usual place after collection day, please do so. Bins may make it difficult to navigate pavements as Pepsi will tend to take me into the road to avoid them, which is quite dangerous.

Phil Black, Head of Events, Torbay Council

Sharon, I would just like to compliment SWISCo on the excellent job your team carried out on Saturday. I have sent my praise to Dale via email and asked him to pass on my comments to Richard ( team leader on the day) and his two colleagues

Mr Harris, resident of Paignton

Dear Swisco I had a bulk item collection today, a bed base and two mattresses that must have got soaking wet in the torrential rain and would like to say a big thank you to the collection team working in such awful conditions.

Mrs Taylor, resident of Paignton

Ordered my new garden waste bin, email said 7 to 10 days to arrive but it was here the next morning . I had a schedule via email to advise of collection dates. Further email to say garden waste collection was missed and it would be collected as soon as possible .7.00 the next morning it was emptied . Thank you so much for your efficiency .The boys that collect our rubbish and recycling are amazing.

Phil Black, Head of Events Torbay Council

I just wanted to say how brilliant Chris who was doing litter picking and more at the weekend.  He was great and got on and did all he could with no grumbles and did a great job.  I said thank you but I'd appreciate it if you can pass that on to him - Ash pulled out all the stops at the weekend too and did a great job, so thank you..

Tania Skinner, Childrens Centre Commissioning Advisor, Devon County Council

HI Shaun

Just a quick email to thank you for all your help and support with the production of the Smoke Free Playpark signs and delivering them to county hall  To have them packed up in the sorted piles for each district council was very helpful, and saved me lots of time. It was good to have the mix of signs for each area.

We have now distributed them to all the councils and hope they will be placed in the parks very soon.

Bianca, Torbay Resident

My little one had a visit at school recently from Bonster the Monster and was so fascinated by him. Thank you very much for making his day. I was wondering if there was a way to get any of the monster stickers for the food bin as he missed out on one at school and was very sad.

Nick Yates, happy resident of Torbay

Good evening Swisco,

I just wanted to contact you to let you know how pleased I am with the service we received today from our garden waste collection.

My house is situated on the side of a hill, so the access to my back garden is up some steps at the side of my house which are nice and wide and quite pleasant to walk up and down, however I forgot to put my green waste bin in its normal place by the kerb.

The bin was situated at the side of the house up the steps and your kind operatives took the trouble to collect the bin and bring it down to be emptied, which they really didn't have to do as it clearly states it should be at the kerbside ready for collection.

Please pass on my thanks to the operatives who collected from  Hambleton Way Paignton today.

I really appreciate how much of a thankless task working in this sector is, and it's important that credit is given where credit is due.

Also just to note, our other collections are also very smooth too given the circumstances in which you operate under.
