We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people work safely and wants to develop their career in health and safety. You will be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to build positive working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
You don't need extensive health and safety experience, but you should have a good understanding of basic health and safety principles, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to engage with colleagues across a variety of operational environments. Most importantly, you'll be proactive, approachable, and committed to promoting a positive safety culture where everyone takes responsibility for keeping themselves and others safe.
Key Duties:
- Building positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and external partners to promote safe working practices.
- Providing health and safety advice and support to managers and employees.
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits and compliance checks.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying improvements.
- Developing and reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work and SOPs.
- Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety training.
- Monitoring health and safety performance and maintaining management systems.
- Supporting health surveillance, PPE management and training compliance.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications for initial shortlisting:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve it
- Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation is an advantage
- Experience of risk assessments and health and safety compliance
- Full UK driving licence.
